Me
I am Linda Faye Parham, an ordained reverend and a native of Huntsville, Alabama. I’ve since made Massachusetts, and specifically the city of Worcester, my home. I remain dedicated to working with women, newly arrived immigrants, and people with disabilities, helping them strengthen their foothold in various sectors of the Worcester community.
I’ve had the privilege of building leaders within the African Diaspora in my local community, providing financial literacy and education to those in need, and collaborating with health advocates to create programs that assist individuals living with disabilities.
My Accomplishments
My accomplishments include founding and serving as the Executive Director of The Skills Group Center Inc., a non-profit, faith-based organization. Under my leadership, The Skills Group Center has uplifted the community through strategic public health policy development and planning. I’ve also examined health disparities among people of color by expanding my case study on faith-based health promotion to include populations often excluded from such studies.
I continue to impact my community in Worcester by engaging in conversations with many houses of faith to elevate a new model of social justice surrounding health issues. I am deeply committed to developing the leaders of tomorrow.
Inspired by this mission, I founded and now lead the newly launched non-profit, Understand New Identifiers That Empower Youth Community Development Corporation (UNITEY CDC). UNITEY CDC is at the forefront of motivating Black youth and young adults to revitalize their communities, bridge gaps through civic and community engagement, and transform their dreams into reality by focusing on youth self-empowerment.
My Education
My educational journey is rooted in a deep commitment to understanding and serving my community. I hold a Doctorate of Divinity in Complex Urban Studies, with a concentration in urban youth and young adult ministry, from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Additionally, I earned several master’s degrees, including a Master of Communications, a Master of Community Development and Planning, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and a Master of Organizational Communication. I also obtained a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School.
My academic foundation began with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Clark University.
Throughout my career, I’ve pursued further specialization through certifications. I earned a Certificate in Women Politics and Public Policy from UMass-Boston, a Certificate in Youth and Young Adult Ministry Studies from the Boston Theological Institute, and a Certificate in Faith-Based Community Economic Development from the Harvard Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute. Additionally, I completed a Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from Berkshire Medical Center.
Work Experience
My work experience spans a variety of fields, including the non-profit sector, church planting, leadership development, research, consulting, senior citizen support, and spiritual formation for high school and college students. Currently, I am expanding my case study on faith-based health promotion as a new social justice paradigm, examining health disparities among people of color as a viable approach to social reconstruction.
Personal Life
I was born in Mooresville, Alabama, and in 1974, my family moved to Huntsville. Over 30 years ago, I relocated to Massachusetts with my daughter, Tennille LaShay, who was just one and a half years old at the time. Family members lovingly call her “T” (pronounced Tee).
As the founder of Mending Broken Hearts, I am honored to be a voice that God is using to bring revolution and impact the spiritual climate in cities around the world. Through speaking, teaching, and preaching at social and cultural events, I have been given a distinctive voice for this hour, helping churches, para-church ministries, and civic leaders alike.
Connect with Me
I dedicated years to learning and establishing my goals to help me achieve my dream self and lifestyle. And I want the same for you.
